Villa Republic Bentota is an entrancing private villa set on the banks of the Bentara River. Rooms and living spaces open to the swimming pool and river beyond. Owned by a Sri Lankan entrepreneur and lifestyle designer, Villa Republic Bentota has striking décor, including a collection of memorabilia and rare black and white photographs of political figures such as Che Guevera and Lenin, as well as icons from music and sport like The Beatles and Muhammad Ali. Bedrooms are themed accordingly, named Boxing Room, Beatles Room, Liberation Room, and Vietnam Room, decorated with black and white photography from the owner’s private collection. Guests should be mindful that the pictures do not necessarily represent the political views of the owner! Spend a tranquil day by the poolside or go jet-skiing on the Bentara River, or head to the sandy beaches of Bentota, just a short boat ride away.
There are four standard bedrooms and a spacious suite, all with a/c, overhead fans and furnished with double beds. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w rain showers.
The dining area opens up to a spacious landscaped garden and swimming pool, whilst the large river front deck offers a magical dining experience of both traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and Western cuisine prepared to perfection by the in-house chef. By evening, the villa’s soft lighting creates the perfect ambiance for poolside drinks and dinner.
The living area has plush sofas, flat screen TV with satellite channels, home entertainment system and a collection of books and DVDs. Meals are served in the open-sided dining area overlooking the swimming pool or on the deck by the riverside. Meals can be ordered from the in-house menu. The chef at Villa Republic Bentota prepares Sri Lankan and international cuisine. Other villa facilities include a swimming pool edged by an extensive pool deck and well-kept gardens with tropical foliage. Next door is a fully-equipped marina and boat house offering numerous water-sports including boat rides, river cruises, kayaking, jet-skiing, wind surfing, and banana boats.
