Kumara is a stylish villa set on two acres of lush tropical gardens just ten minutes inland from Weligama’s spectacular beaches on Sri Lanka’s south coast. Kumara consists of three separate pavilions: an exquisite living pavilion which opens out to an infinity edge swimming pool and two separate luxurious suites with their own private terraces immersed in walled, private gardens. The buildings are a beautiful blend of contemporary and Asian styles, with antique windows and doorways, oriental furnishings and sculptures and modern architectural and interior design features. The two suites are booked exclusively and can accommodate up to four guests.
Experience at the Kumara Villa
Three, air-conditioned bedrooms are found at Villa Kumara each with its own terrace and seating areas for absolute comfort and privacy. The bedrooms are furnished with raised king-sized beds and decorated with a variety of artefacts and artwork. The traditional décor seeps inside the living room as well. The sliding glass doors lead to the terrace with comfortable daybeds and a splendid view of the gardens. There are roll away beds for kids in two of the bedrooms and lounge chaises in each bedroom where you can curl up with a book. En-suite bathrooms feature freestanding bathtubs or shower stalls alongside other amenities.
The living area also accommodates the dining area and kitchen with the dining area also carved out of stone with wooden stools and chairs to serve as seating. The kitchen is something unique as it is sunken into the floor with steps leading to it. It is open-plan, designed with large glass doors, and consists of: a dining area furnished with an eight-seater table; a fully equipped pantry, and a lounge with built-in seats and plush sofas. Traditional Sri Lankan cuisine is prepared by the in-house cook. They will also do the grocery shopping for you: accompany him to the market and learn how to cook his dishes.
There is an infinity pool with pool deck complete with a gazebo and Wi-Fi. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. The living pavilion is slightly elevated and looks across the surrounding tree canopy of coconut palms and fruit trees which attract many birds.
