Eraeliya Villas & Gardens which is located in the southern part of Sri Lanka is a luxurious cluster of villas that offer guests a complete and relaxed beach holiday. Experience at the Eraeliya Villas & Gardens
The nine rooms, spread within five unique villas, are all different. Bawana, the largest, proffers the smartest accommodation – four near-identical suites across two floors. These sea-facing rooms are contemporary in design with modern bathrooms (the top floor ones have tubs) and either a balcony or a poolside terrace (less private given that all guests use the pool). The two-bedroom Walauwe Villa is only ever rented to one party and its small kitchenette, living room and dining terrace suits families. The remaining three one-bedroom villas range from a secluded seaside circular chalet (Muhudu Bella) to a light antiques-filled space (Villa Ambalama) with outdoor bathroom. The suites have king-size beds, though most villas have queens. All have air conditioning, telephones, televisions and bathroom amenities.
The hotel has a refreshing take on dining. Instead of a central restaurant, butlers deliver meals to the veranda, terrace or interior of the suite or villa. Service is very good but can be a little slow, so works best if you order your meal for a specific time. Butlers take your breakfast orders the night before – Sri Lankan or western – and you pick a time, so it’s served very punctually. Everything is made from scratch (hence why dishes aren’t turned around rapidly) and the menu features fish and seafood with an emphasis on Asian fusion flavours. There’s no alcohol (guests can bring their own) but the selection of mocktails, juices and soft drinks is good.
You’re encouraged to feel at home here. The owners and staff keep a discreet distance yet are always available and happy to share recommendations of what to see and do. Room service is the norm with on-call butlers attending to guests in their own suites or villas. There’s a swimming pool, a lawn with sun loungers facing the ocean, and an Ayurvedic Spa.
