The old colonial bungalow was previously the home of Sir Cudah Ratwatte, the patriarch of the island’s leading aristocratic family. Many elephants were once housed in the gardens of his old plantation – hence the name The Elephant Stables.

Pepper Delux Room

Located on the upper floor of the New Wing with views on 2 sides over the garden and a wrap around upstairs verandah with outdoor seating. The room features a 4 Poster Bed and there is a separate changing area with a wardrobe recess.

Located on the upper floor of the New Wing with an upstairs verandah containing outdoor seating and overlooking the garden. The room also has a 4 Poster Bed. A very large and stylish bathroom is a unique feature of this room.

Saffron Deluxe Room

A medium size bedroom on the upper floor of the Colonial Wing with a 4 Poster Bed looking out over the pool and garden. It is furnished with a lovely blend of colonial and modern styles. This is the middle room of the Colonial Wing located in-between the two Colonial Suites.
This is a perfect choice for any visitor who does not require a large suite, but would like to experience the colonial ambience of the original property.

A large stand alone cottage in the garden overlooking the back lawn and pool is available for guests that require a substantial amount of space for their holiday requirements.

The Sir David Lean Bungalow

Guests have exclusive use of a huge 2 bedroom Suite (Main Bedroom with Attached Twin Bedroom) and a private Living and Dining verandah with stupendous views over the Mahaweli River. There is also a gorgeous Living Room and Reception area in the main bungalow that is full of beautiful Art Deco and colonial furniture where guests are completely free to wander and relax in opulent luxury.
