Saldana is a charming three-bedroom villa fronting a pristine stretch of beach in Habaraduwa, a 20-minute drive south from Galle. Designed along the lines of a traditional colonial house, it is a compact, single-story villa with high timber roofs, doors and windows with intricately carved wood panels, cooling polished cement floors and a verandah where hours can be spent relaxing and taking in the sea views. Interiors are tastefully decorated with Dutch period antiques, art and furnishings from south Asia. Safe swimming in the sea is possible right in front of the villa during the season from December to April. Saldana accommodates up to six guests and is rented on room basis as well as an entire villa.
There are three bedrooms of which two are master suites furnished with king size four-poster beds. One suite opens on to a private verandah overlooking the swimming pool located on the side of the house, and the other opens on a private verandah and garden beyond. The third room is furnished with two single four-poster beds. All rooms have a/c, overhead fans and en-suite bathrooms with h/w showers. Baby’s cot can be provided.
Saldana is staffed with a manager, house keeper and chef. Try your hand at cooking or let the chef prepare tasty Sri Lankan and western cuisine. They will also purchase groceries and fresh seafood. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
The open plan living, and dining area opens on to a broad verandah where hours can be spent taking in the spectacular sea views. Other facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, swimming pool and gardens that lead to the beach. Saldana is equipped with a flat screen TV with satellite channels, Blue Ray DVD player, IDD telephone, wi-fi internet, office equipment including a printer, scanner, and fax machine.
